My Biggest Fears

Saturday, March 29, 2014

We all have fears. Whether they are stupid or not. Whether we have a reason for fearing these things or not. So I've decided to share with you guys some of my fears.

Losing family/boyfriend/close friends: I don't even want to lose anyone in my immediate family, my boyfriend, or my friends. I have no idea what I would do without them. I would be devastated.
Planes: I know what you guys are going to say. "But Heather! It's the safest way to travel. Safer than cars!" Yeah, tell that to the girl who is obsessed with any plane crash that appears on the news. MH370 has made me not want to fly for a couple more years. (I'm never going to travel the world! Sad-face.)
Death: I'm pretty sure most of us have this fear. It's not fun thinking about death and losing someone you know. Who knows what happens when we are gone? I don't want to figure out for quite some time.
Spiders: I know, they are "harmless" creatures who do good for the environment. That doesn't give them the right to stroll right into my house and give me a freaking heart attack. Especially if they are as big as the one pictured above.
Dolls: They are just freaky. Simple as that. Don't put me near one of these things. I will probably hurt you.
Public Speaking: Oh, you want someone to come up and speak in front of the whole class? Yeah, I'll pass on that one. Don't look at me. I'm fine with sitting right here listening to you speak.

What are some of your fears? Why are you afraid of those things?
I hope you guys enjoyed!

Weekly Skincare Routine

Since moving to College, I kind of got off track/schedule with my skincare routine. I don't wash my face everyday, I fall asleep with makeup on some nights, etc. However, since I have been home all week for Spring Break, I've gotten back into skincare products and using them daily/weekly. Today, I decided to share my skincare routine with you that I will hopefully continue doing at school.

I use the same four products daily (technically nightly.) I only wash my face once a day-unless my skin is super oily and I need to wash my face-and I always wash it and put on all these products at night.
1. St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub: I know you aren't supposed to use scrubs daily, but this one is gentle enough that I don't think it's doing any harm. I love the smell of this scrub and I can tell a difference in my skin since using it. It isn't a dramatic difference, but it's good enough for me for now.
2. Simple Soothing Facial Toner:  I use this toner right after I'm done washing my face. It is gentle and soothing and does not burn or sting at all. It also smells great!
3. Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Overnight Peel: I use this peel right after my toner. I use one and a half to two pumps of it. I've only been using this for a week, so there is no HUGE change in my dark spots. But, like I said with the scrub, there is a tiny difference that I can see. Which makes me happy since I can see it's helping. The only thing I don't like is that it gets sticky quite quickly after applying it. It does go away once it is fully dry though.
4. Garnier Skin Renew Radiance Moisture Creme: The last thing I do is of course moisturize my face. I have oily skin and I absolutely hate using most moisturizers since they make my skin even more oily. However, with this moisturizer I do not have that problem. A little goes a long way and it absorbs into my skin really quick. Oh! And this stuff smells AMAZING!

I also use two other products at least once a week. These products I use during the day whenever I feel the need to use them.
1. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque: I use this face masque once a week. I absolutely love it! It smells nice and minty-it's not too overpowering. A little goes a long way with this stuff. Once you have it on, you pretty much automatically feel your face tightening and tingling/slightly burning. Not the bad kind though, the good kind. Once I wash it off, I of course moisturize with my Garnier moisturizer.

2. Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes: These wipes I don't use very often, but when I do use them, I use them to help take off my makeup. They don't get off all the makeup, but they get enough off that I don't have to pretty much peel off my skin in the shower. Or I use them whenever I feel the need to "wash" my face without actually washing it.

Well, that's my weekly skincare routine! What skincare products do all of you use? Do you have any suggestions on which products work really well for you?
I hope you guys had a wonderful day!

Favorite Photo Of The Week #3

Sunday, March 23, 2014

For this week's photo, I chose a photo that I took while I was on a walk with my mom. She sees this cat every time she walks and always gives him treats. He's a cute and lovable cat. Too bad I'm a slight germaphobe and refused to pet him whenever he came near me. (sorry little guy!)
I hope you guys had a great week!

Spring Break

Saturday, March 22, 2014

Bye bye little black squirrels that I've grown quite fond of. See you in a week!
I'm free you guys. Free!
Free to explore and go on adventures.
Free to travel to a different state.
Free to go to the beach.
Free to go someplace a lot warmer.
Vacation time!
I could go to Florida, or go on a cruise, or fly to a different country!
....Or I'm probably going to waste my time at home, on my computer and hanging out with my boyfriend, wasting my Spring Break away.
Yeah, that sounds more like my Spring Break. Sounds perfect to me!
I've been on break since Thursday and I've already wasted these three days away.
Which I'm perfectly fine with since I'm a broke college student and can't afford to travel and go on a vacation right now.
What are all of your plans for Spring Break (if your break is as late as mine?)

Favorite Photo Of The Week #2

Sunday, March 16, 2014

For this week's FPOTW, I choose this lovely photo that I took on Friday. I went on a little photography adventure with my boyfriend and two of his friends and I captured this. I don't know why, but I really like it. And this is one of the first photos I've taken in color for quite a while. (my photography class is a black and white digital photography class) I love taking photos in color WAY more than in black and white, so it was awesome to get out this weekend and take some color photos for the fun of it.
Now it's time to go back to black and white photos for my next photography project. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Favorite Photo Of The Week #1

Sunday, March 9, 2014

Hey guys! So I decided that I'm going to start a little series on my blog called Favorite Photo Of The Week (FPOTW for short.) These photos are all photos that I took and that I like during that week-span... Unless I don't take any that week, then it will be one from a while ago that I took and like.
The photo I chose for this week is a photo that I took about two weeks ago when I went to the zoo with my mom and little sister. This eagle was sitting right by the glass, cleaning himself. Every now and then he would look up at me with this "What the hell do you want? I'm kind of busy" face. I found in quite funny and decided to snap a few photos of him and I got this awesome photo. This is definitely my favorite photo I took during that little trip to the zoo. And it freaked out my professor and classmates when I brought it in for critique. It was quite amusing.
I'll see you guys soon! (since this blogging daily thing isn't working out.....of course.)

Pugs, PUGS EVERYWHERE!!!

Friday, March 7, 2014

One of the many photos/gifs I have saved of pugs. LOOK AT HOW CUTE HE IS!!!!
Today my boyfriend asked me a question that I don't think anyone has ever asked me. We were walking to the gym to go swimming and we came across a few dogs. I flipped and was all "OMIGOSHHH!!! PUPPIES!!" and ran over to them so I could pet them. They were cute little fellows. But not as cute as my favorite dog ever. PUGS. I freaking love pugs man, some say I'm obsessed (having a puggy bank, a daily pug calendar, photos of pugs on my wall, about 230 photos saved on my laptop, stuffed animals of pugs, and a Valentines and Birthday card with pugs on them doesn't mean I'm obsessed.... Right?) I love those cute little guys and I plan on getting two when I have my own apartment/when I graduate from college. And I know what I'm going to name them and which one I want first! Puga and Ottis! (Puga will be first.)
Anyways! Seeing me freak out over these dogs we saw made my boyfriend think of something. As we were walking he kinda stopped and said to me, "I would love to see how you would react if you actually saw a pug. Wait.... Have you ever seen one in person before?"
And to be honest, I don't think so. I might've seen some in Pet's Pajamas before, but I'm not sure. This shocked him quite a bit. I mean... I freaking love these things and have plans of getting two, but I've never seen them in person before. Just photos and videos and stuffed animals. It's kind of weird how I've become obsessed with them without ever seeing/petting/playing with one before.
I will admit though, I will probably scream with joy and probably scare the owner if I ever see someone walking a pug around campus. And maybe cry. And maybe steal it. JUST KIDDING!! I WOULD NEVER DO THAT!! ......maybe.
So, I have no idea where this obsession came from. Maybe it's because I had a pekingese before. They have smushed in faces like pugs. And they are fluffier. But when we shaved my dog, she kinda looked like a black pug. Eh. Who knows? Maybe that's where it all started? (but pugs are cuter still!!)
What are your obsessions that you guys have? Did they kind of come out of nowhere? Or did something influence it? Let me know! And have a wonderful day!

Being an Introvert

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

A month or two ago, my little sister (who I don't think I've mentioned yet on here) called me out of the blue. She told me that I should take a personality test and that she already made my mom and older sister take one. I was confused and asked her why she was asking people to take these personality tests. She was just being a goof and wanted to see what everyone else got. So, to get her to stop nagging me, I told her I'd take one and talk to her about it over text or Snapchat (we always Snapchat.)
When we hung up and I honestly did NOT want to sit through however long it took me to take the test. I felt it was silly and not necessary. However, I thought about it, searched for the test she told me to take, found one and thought "Why the hell not?"
So, I sat through the test, got annoyed with some of the repetitive questions, and finally got my results. My results were the ISFP personality
You guys are probably wondering "Heather, what the hell is an ISFP personality?" But don't worry, I'm getting to that.
Each letter stands for different words. The I stands for Introvert, the S stands for sensing, the F stands for feeling and the P stands for prospecting.
I'm sure many of you know the definition of an introvert, they are reserved, they prefer to be alone then around others, they get exhausted by social interactions, etc.
But what do they mean by sensing, feeling, and prospecting? Well... According to this site, sensing for introverts means that you are observant, rely on your senses, and you focus on what has happened. Feeling means that you are sensitive, you keep feelings close to the surface, and you follow your hearts. And finally, prospecting means that you prefer to keep your options open and you seek freedom.
This type of personality apparently only makes up a mere 8% of the population and is apparently the most spontaneous and unpredictable. (got this, and everything else in this post, from the site which will be linked at the end of this post) This type is very sensitive and have low self-esteem. They also are curious, imaginative, competitive, and they get stressed very easily.
They also listed out some famous people who have the same personality trait as you on the website. Some of mine include: Bob Dylan, Ulysses S Grant, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, and John Travolta.
I now have a favorite quote by Bob Dylan that they had up, and that is "I change during the course of the day. I wake and I'm one person, and when I go to sleep I know for certain I'm somebody else."
This could not describe me better.
I wasn't shocked at the result I got. I knew I was an introvert to begin with, and I agree 100% with everything that was said about my type. I have all of the traits they listed. But it was pretty interesting to read all the facts they have and see famous people who have the same personality as I do. I guess it was worth my time to take it. Oh! And apparently my mom has pretty much the same personality that I do. I see where I get it from now.

For those of you who are interested in reading more about my type of personality, other types of personalities, or you want to take the test, here's a link to the website: http://www.16personalities.com/

I hope you guys enjoy it! Please tell me if you agree or disagree with what you got. I would love to see/hear your results! And I will do a part two of this post sometime in the near future!

You're Always So Cheerful!!

Monday, March 3, 2014

I feel like I always get asked the same question everyday, by everyone. Random strangers (meaning classmates I never talk to) will always come up to me and ask me "You are always so cheerful! How do you do it?" and even my friends who know me pretty well will even ask that. Honestly, not trying to get any attention or pitty from anyone, I'm not that happy, cheerful person they all see (at least some of the times.) I'm quite depressing and a debby downer-at times. However, I try and make the best out of things. I don't sit there and complain to people and tell them how depressed I am, or how much pain I'm in. Hell, I don't even explain myself when I have a breakdown infront of my boyfriend. I HATE talking about it cause I don't know exactly what's wrong with me. But I want to try and help you guys out who are suffering to.

So... The new question you guys are probably asking is "Then how do you do it?" or "How do you force a smile on your face and jump around like a crazed rabbit?" No joke, I do run and jump around like a crazed rabbit (more like a crazy person.) And to answer your question.... Pugs and caffeine.
Joking...... Kind of.

Anyways, in all seriousness...

>>I try and smile everyday and think positively (which is hard for me since I can be a debby downer.)
>>I think of how much happier it makes my boyfriend when he sees me happy and smiling.
>>I think of how much he loves me, as well as how much my family loves me.
>>I also think about my future goals. How I want to travel the world and find myself (or lose myself, that's fine too.) How I want to get two pugs soon and name them Ottis and Puga. Live in a tiny apartment by myself or with my boyfriend. Etc.
>>Coffee does make me very happy, and extremely hyper. It's quite amusing.
>>Oh, and definitely looking at cute pictures of pugs. Which all pugs are cute to me. I'm obsessed.
>>I do honestly wake up happy sometimes, and to keep that going, I put a positive outlook on the day and try not to stress/freak out about anything.
>>Ignore all the dickheads and bullies (cause there are still those people in college) and know that you are a better person then they are.
>>Compliments. And I don't mean you have to compliment yourself. I'm talking about compliments from others. Keep those in your head and heart and think of them when you are feeling like shit.
>>Zone people who are douche canoes out. If you are near someone who you know will be a douche canoe to you, zone them out.
>>Know that you are worth your time on Earth and people do care about you.

That's about all I have for today. I'm going to start blogging daily, so i'll see you guys tomorrow! (HOPEFULLY!!)

Heather
